Recovery Foundations

Give yourself time to allow healing to happen...

When life has given you a bitter pill to swallow; when harsh or even scary experiences have happened to you, when life chose; when surrender has led to full immersion in the fires of hell, you need a way out.

The only way I have trodden back to moderate health and a calm emotional state is via therapy, which was walked in the company of self-care and down-regulation strategies. I have lived various cycles of recovery as a result of different life events, and have walked this road for close to 7 years, 10, if you count the years of non-awareness, when I was recovering but not yet aware that’s what I was up to. It was up and down, I lived amazing times too, but then a bucket load of new trauma fell onto me, and I was back at the beginning again, only this time, I’d had training.

I learned that there is only one way to recover and that is by asking for help from the right professional, then practicing regular self-care as a necessity and ritual. For me, love requires action. This, in turn, means that loving myself requires action… Recovery Foundations is full of starting points to inspire safe choices, reasonable boundaries, and inwards reflection. Do take your time, there is no start point or finish line in recovery, only a new life on the other side of horrific happenings and circumstances.

Recovery Foundations, A Self-Help Guide, has been organised into 13 easy-to-navigate chapters, the covers and synopsis of which can be explored here:
Patient choice is something of a legislated right. But how can one make choices without reliable, transparent, honest, up-to-date information?

I have created a brochure of mental health treatment and care pathways, mostly as an example for government and the NHS to take note of. Without immediate attention being focused towards such issues as inequality, disparity, the absence of effective pathways that lead to a true, stable form of recovery, we must explore what best practice truly looks like, and demand a system that treats us ethically, safely, and towards successful treatment outcomes.

Print the brochure, share it, just remember, the NHS will not offer everything, but why don’t we figure out what we want before becoming ‘The Modern-Day Rabble’, the crowds that scream and shout in writing instead of dangerously in the streets? Ask for what you want, copy us in, then forward us the response. Collecting data will become the powerful fuel we need to light the past on fire! The brochure is not inclusive of all healing modalities, it is simply an example of what could and should be:
